Welcome to the
Alloway Railway Tunnel ART Project

Our project is to create one of Scotland’s largest murals through the Alloway Railway Tunnel.

We want to transform an old, dilapidated tunnel that has been defaced with graffiti into a safe, inspiring place, with a beautiful hand painted mural by one of the UK’s top muralists and visionaries, Chris Rutterford.

Our Mission

Art Unites Community

Uniting Art and Community

Join us on an inspiring journey as we create a stunning art installation within the historic railway tunnel at the Brig O' Doon. Led by artist Chris Rutterford, this community-driven project celebrates Ayrshire's rich heritage and brings people together to breathe life into a living art masterpiece.

Engaging Partnerships and Support

Backed by Sustrans ArtRoots, Peoples Postcode Lottery, National Lottery Community Fund, and South Ayrshire authorities, we are proud to collaborate with the National Trust for Scotland and Ayrshire College. Together, we'll host workshops, engage the community, and turn this space into a cherished venue for arts, theatre, music, markets, and much more.

Get Involved

Whether you're interested in project administration, fundraising, community engagement, or the artistic process itself, the Alloway Tunnel Crew welcomes you. Let's make history together and create a vibrant legacy for generations to come.
